Fourth Wall Studios is proud to announce that it has expanded its executive team with the addition of Academy Award®-winning production designer, Rick Heinrichs, as Executive Creative Director.

Heinrichs will be responsible for leading visual design in the Culver City-based studio while continuing to raise the overall creative output across all of the projects developed for the innovative transmedia RIDES.tv platform. He also makes his directorial debut on Fourth Wall’s latest short, The Ledge, which premieres today.

“We are honored to have Rick join us at Fourth Wall Studios,” said Jim Stewartson, CEO and Founder.  “Rick has created some of the most amazing worlds in the history of film, and we are so excited to see him apply his vision to the next generation of storytelling.”

Heinrichs joins Fourth Wall Studios with over thirty years of experience.  As one of film’s most original and innovative artists, Heinrichs is known for creating imaginative settings and alternate worlds in films like Dark Shadows and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.  He has worked with all-time greats like Tim Burton, Joe Johnston, Gore Verbinski, the Coen Brothers and Ang Lee.  For his work on Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow, Heinrichs won the Academy Award®, the BAFTA®, and Art Directors Guild Award.  He also won an Art Directors Guild Award for Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.

“Fourth Wall Studios is pioneering entertainment with RIDES.tv,” said Rick Heinrichs.  “While others are focused on delivering the same traditional content on different devices, Fourth Wall Studios has created a platform that uses these devices to enhance and add dimension to narrative while engaging fans at a whole new level. Their innovative and creative approach to storytelling is inspiring and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”

The Gamblers is a dark comedy about two protagonists who compete in a high stakes game of life and death. The pilot episode, The Ledge, is an interactive short about a high school senior who tries to talk her lovesick stalker out of jumping off a building while the two Gamblers bet and riff on the outcome. The unique transmedia piece uses the RIDES platform to activate your browser and phone to allow you to participate interactively throughout. The project was written by Fourth Wall Studios’ co-founder and award-winning science fiction author Sean Stewart. Other talent involved include Academy Award® winners Colleen Atwood (costume design) and David Parker (sound), and award-winning Director of Photography Phedon Papamichael.
